National Shrine of St. Francis of Assisi,
San Francisco, CA
Recently designated by the U.S. bishops as a national shrine, the historic Church of St. Francis is a place of prayer and pilgrimage. Care of the shrine has recently been given to the Capuchin Franciscans, who welcome all who come seeking God’s peace and inspiration. The shrine also houses a replica of the Portiuncula, the Church of Our Lady of Angels loved by St. Francis.

PAROCHIAL
St. Francis told us to love and serve the church. One of the ways the friars do this is to serve the people of God as priests and brothers working in parishes. There are presently three parishes staffed by the Capuchin Franciscans in Western America: Our Lady of Angels Parish in Burlingame, California; Mission Santa Inés in Solvang, California, and St. Lawrence Parish in Watts (Los Angeles), California, and a friar serves as pastor of Our Lady of Fatima Byzantine Catholic Church in San Francisco. Other friars also assist local parishes by celebrating masses and other sacraments.
